HEALTH FUND FOR CHILDREN

A NONPROFIT RAISING FUNDS FOR CHILDREN IN NEED OF QUALITY HEALTHCARE

YOUR GIFT DIRECTLY HELPS A FAMILY CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR HELP WITH MEDICAL COSTS

OUR MISSION

Quality health care supports a child’s physical, emotional, and cognitive development, & aids in their ability to reach full potential.

Health Fund for Children (HF4C) will financially assist children to receive much-needed health care.

More than 4 million children are uninsured in the US (2018), with 69,000 in South Carolina. Many of these children do not qualify for Medicaid, CHIP, or to participate in the Health Insurance Marketplace in South Carolina. This problem is not going away as the American Academy of Pediatrics states there are signs that insurance coverage losses for children will continue to rise.

Health Fund For Children is a nonprofit organization with a 501(c)(3).

WHEN YOUR CHILD NEEDS HELP

Health Fund for Children (HF4C) will financially assist children 18 years and younger who have no insurance, underinsured and whose parents make less than 250% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. We know that out-of-pocket costs for healthcare can be completely out of reach for some families. We are committed to helping children in need get the quality healthcare they need and deserve. Families with children are assessed for need, on a case-by-case basis.

HEALTH FUND FOR CHILDREN CAN ASSIST WITH:

  • Medical and Dental Procedures
  • Prescriptions and Over-The-Counter Medications
  • Doctor Visits
  • Diagnostic Testing
  • Laboratory Work
  • And More!

HELPING CHILDREN IN NEED

When quality health care is out of reach for families who have difficulties covering out-of-pocket costs, children suffer in the short and long term. Your donations help us provide funding for families who may otherwise postpone or opt out of necessary procedures or because of the financial hardship they can create.

CURRENT CONDITIONS REGARDING HEALTH COVERAGE FOR CHILDREN:

  • About 69,000 children in SC are uninsured.
  • According to the March of Dimes in 2019, in SC, 1 in 17 children (younger than 19 years of age) do not have health insurance.
  • Many of these children are undocumented immigrants, and therefore not eligible for Medicaid, CHIP, or health insurance subsidies provided through the Affordable Care Act.
  • South Carolina is one of 12 states that has not adopted Medicaid expansion further affecting children’s access to health insurance.

OUR STORY

OUR INSPIRATION: AN 8-YEAR-OLD GIRL NAMED GENESIS

Genesis had a heart defect and was at risk for a stroke without proper cardiac care. The costs to treat exceeded her family’s ability to pay. Once her plight became public, we watched in awe as our community generously raised the money. Genesis’s heart is now mended and she is thriving beautifully.
