OUR STORY

WHO WE ARE AT
HEALTH FUND FOR CHILDREN
AND WHY WE DO THIS

GENESIS: OUR INSPIRATION

An eight-year-old girl in need

Genesis had a heart defect and was at risk for a stroke without proper cardiac care. The costs to treat exceeded her family’s ability to pay. Once her plight became public, we watched in awe as our community generously raised the money. Genesis’s heart is now mended and she is thriving beautifully.

OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS

EXPERIENCE FROM INSIDE THE SYSTEM

As physicians, nurses, counselors and parents we have witnessed the need of children firsthand. We are compelled to serve as a resource for families that have children with healthcare needs, whether those are preventative, chronic or emergency. We believe that without health, children cannot fulfill their dreams. Health equity is a persistent need in our community, state and nation. HF4C aims to provide financial assistance to children in need of quality healthcare.

Scarlett Arreola

Board Member

Scarlett joined the Health Fund for Children team to help build a social media presence and spread the word about the positive impact HF4C is making in the lives of children in the community. She moved to South Carolina from Colorado in 2020 with her husband and their two year old daughter; always wanting to live near the coast, 2020 presented the perfect opportunity. She brings years of experience in social media and digital marketing management, plus a robust background in various administrative roles. This, along with her passion to see everyone get a chance at a better, healthier life, made for a great fit with the HF4C team.

In her spare time, Scarlett loves going to the beach with her family, or finding some local adventure or road trip, catching up with friends, and traveling to new places. Her favorite place to visit so far, other than Charleston, is Barcelona.
